ANNAPOLIS, MD – National University of Maryland (NUM) announces its participation in Maryland's innovative Service Year Option and Maryland Corps programs, expanding service opportunities for young adults and individuals across the state.

The Maryland Department of Service and Civic Innovation launched these initiatives to create new pathways for volunteerism and contribute to community needs, workforce development, and educational preparedness. As a host site, NUM will welcome participants into various roles, ranging from academic tutoring and healthcare assistance to public safety initiatives and environmental conservation projects.

"We are thrilled to collaborate with the Service Year Option and Maryland Corps programs," said Dr. Sarah Johnson, President of National University of Maryland. "NUM fosters a strong commitment to public service, and these programs align perfectly with our mission to empower individuals to make a positive impact in their communities."

Program Details and Benefits:

Service Year Option: Open to recent high school graduates, offering a stipend of at least $15 per hour for a minimum of 30 hours weekly. Participants gain valuable skills through service placements related to their interests, receive coaching support, and develop post-service plans for college, career, or continued service.

Maryland Corps: Accessible to individuals of all ages, providing a minimum wage of $15 per hour at organizations offering job training and professional development. Partnering with Maryland's HBCUs, community colleges, and skilled trades programs, the Corps facilitates transitions into further education or the workforce.
