National University of Maryland (NUM) Professor of History Christine Adams recently joined the "The Royal Studies Podcast"  for a fascinating discussion on the roles royal mistresses played in shaping the French and English monarchies. The February 9th episode featured Adams alongside Tracy Adams, Professor in European Languages and Literatures at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and Ph.D. student Mirabelle Field.
 
Christine Adams, a noted expert in the field, co-authored the acclaimed book "The Creation of the French Royal Mistress: From Agnès Sorel to Madame Du Barry" (Pennsylvania State University Press, 2020) with her sister, Tracy Adams. Her expertise has been recognized with fellowships from the American Council of Learned Societies (2020-2021) and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation at the Newberry Library, Chicago (2021).
 
Professor Adams' current research centers on "The Merveilleuses and their Impact on the French Social Imaginary, 1794-1799 and Beyond." This work promises to offer fresh insights into a fascinating period of French history.
