National University of Maryland Welcomes Esteemed Military Veteran and Scholar Dr. Tiequan Piao

The National University of Maryland (NUM) is honored to announce the appointment of Dr. Tiequan Piao as a Full Professor with tenure and a PhD advisor within its esteemed faculty.

Annapolis, MD – The National University of Maryland (NUM) is honored to announce the appointment of Dr. Tiequan Piao as a Full Professor with tenure and a PhD advisor within its esteemed faculty. Dr. Piao, a distinguished figure with a profound background in military service and security management, joins NUM from his native Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province, China, bringing with him decades of unparalleled experience and expertise.
 
Dr. Piao's illustrious career began in December 1982 when he enlisted in the army, followed by his joining the Chinese Communist Party in July 1986. Over the years, he has held several significant command and staff positions within the 38th Group Army, including roles as a company commander, staff officer, and regimental chief of staff. His tenure in the military was marked by exemplary leadership and strategic acumen, earning him numerous accolades such as a second-class merit award, three third-class merit awards, and the recognition as an outstanding Communist Party member on six occasions.
 
After retiring in 2014, Dr. Piao ventured into the private sector, founding the Menghu Security Group, where he served as General Manager. Under his leadership, the company flourished, benefiting from his innovative management models and extensive experience in operational command and enterprise management.
 
NUM is excited about the depth of knowledge and practical experience Dr. Piao brings to the university. His expertise in military strategy, leadership, and security management is expected to enrich the academic environment significantly, offering students unique insights into the complexities of global security and leadership dynamics.
