National University of Maryland Welcomes Esteemed Chinese Ph.D. Advisor

Dr. Haitao Zhou, a leading expert in organic selenium nutrition, joins NUM’s School of Public Health, enhancing research and innovation in food science and technology.

The National University of Maryland (NUM) is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Haitao Zhou to the School of Public Health’s Department of Food Science and Technology. Dr. Zhou is a distinguished researcher in organic selenium nutrition and the Director of the Global Organic Selenium Nutrition Food Certification Center.

Dr. Zhou has significantly contributed to the field by leading the formulation of 16 industry standards for organic selenium nutrition foods, developing over 40 patented technologies, and publishing more than 60 academic papers. His work has filled critical gaps in standardized production, ensuring the safety and quality of selenium-rich foods.

His accolades include recognition as an Advanced Worker in China’s Traditional Chinese Medicine and Health System, the Most Influential Person in China’s Functional Food Industry, and Leading Innovator in Organic Selenium Food Industry Technology. Dr. Zhou was also named Chief Scientist for Inheritance and Innovation in the Functional Food Industry by the China Scientist Forum.
